A draft bill to ban the wearing of veils that cover the face in public places passed 335 to 1 in the National Assembly of France. The French Senate has to approve the bill in September before it becomes law. As a feminist, I believe women should have the freedom to dress comfortably in the garments of their choice. As someone who grew up in Amish country, I'm used to women dressing in the clothing of another century. Yet I ask you, should we really focus on banning the burqa?
Here in the USA, I would rather ban baggy pants that droop below underwear, the wearing of pj's in public, short-shorts that reveal butt cheeks, ugly tattoos, stupid T-shirts, and pretty much everything that shows up on the website People of Walmart.
What would you ban?
