Barbara

Merci, Tut, for reminding us that sometimes we must travel far--for example to CA--to continue to understand what is so nearby. We knew the Leclerc history. We used to live above one of their first grocery stores in the 14th, down the street from where Jeanne and husband stayed. We were aware that le Bon Marché (and not Macy's!) was the world's first "department store", but we remained totally unaware of the Potin saga(other than the number of cans of vegetables available in all of the stores of France)...

Thanks Barbara, I'm a big history geek.
